Stream of Consciousness

Perfecting his Model Pose
Originally uploaded by meandscreech.
Shepherd has been such a charmer these past few days. He's starting to laugh really hard outloud, without us tickling him. Mostly, he laughs when we make funny faces at him. He'll also give us charming looks, especially after filling a diaper or pulling my hair. See the picture? That is NOT posed. I was taking pictures of him, and I swear, he struck the pose himself... The moment I saw the photo, I knew I was in trouble. How am I ever going to say no to this kid???

In other news, he's growing like a WEED. He's not chunking up (still at the 50th percentile in weight, closer to the 60th), but he's stretching out. The child is almost 27 and a half inches long. And most of that is leg. I have long legs, and all of my life, have been mostly leg. I sit down beside Forrest (who technically is an inch shorter than me, but hush... don't tell him I told you), and I'm shorter than him. Standing up? Is another story.

I had guys ask me out in high school simply because of the picture of me in my tennis skirt in the yearbook (not kidding.... that skirt? I bought the longest one, and STILL my legs showed in all their glory). Granted, my legs may be ghost white, but they still have the ability to shock and awe. You'd think after the years of abuse that my legs have seen, due to my clumsy nature, that they'd be pretty beat up. You'd especially think that they'd lost some of their charm during pregnancy. I was fortunate enough not to get varicose veins, or spider veins. I will say that the one thing I still am proud of about my body (listen!!! I'm being positive!!! about my body!!! wow!!!), is my legs. Granted, when I shave them, they look better, but who has time to shave when you have an infant.

Which beckons the question... how do you other mothers do it? Do you keep your legs nicely shaved all the time? or do you allow that to fall to the wayside, only to shave when you have to wear shorts or a skirt? Inquiring minds want to know...

Well, it's naptime in the house, so I'd better go catch a few ZZ's while they can be had...

Yes, I keep my legs shaved. And I did when the boys were small babies, too. I shave them AT LEAST every other day, and usually every day. Stubble drives me insane. I just do it in the shower--2 minutes per leg, tops. I keep my toenails painted, too.

That said, I think I'm the exception to the rule. I've heard many, many mothers say the same things. But I have a husband who has always been more than willing to do his share and then some when he's able to be home, so I do get some time to myself--even if I'm only in the next room.

That picture is adorable. REALLY adorable.

Um.

What is shaving, again?

I can say this. I DO shave more often in the summer. But still...

Great photo!!! You're in trouble when he grows up! He's so adorable.

I still shave my legs and pits every day because I, too, can't tolerate stubble. It drives me nuts!

PS - check your email...I'm going to email you in a sec.

Hmm... I wear jeans. I shave once a week if I'm lucky. LOL. But like Sarah, I shave more in the summer...

LOL...I do it in the morning in the shower before work if I plan to wear a skirt, and/or on the weekends when J is home and can watch the baby. If I sit on the side of the tub and do it, it takes less than 10 minutes, and no shower involved.

I hate stubble! I do it every other day, in the shower. I think I'm done in less than a minute :)

I love the picture! Our little one is pretty aware of the camera too. Too cute!

Ah yes. Shaving. Well, I have about a 30 minute window every morning where I have to make the ultimate decision: coffee and veg while blogging as the baby naps and the boys eat breakfast, or shower and shave? Granted, I have to get that shower every other day regardless, but shaving my legs falls under the heading of "who will see my legs?" If it's the weekend and hubby might be home, well, I'm smooth. Or if we're going swimming.

I love the picture. He is adorable!!

And can I just say how jealous I am over your sexy legs? I am short and so are the legs. Boo-hoo.

Okay, even though I won a "leg hair growing" contest in high school, I shave all the time. Usually everyday. But sometimes every other.

I think it's because I have such dark hair and it grows like mad. I HAVE to shave it.

(Side note. When I was pregnant, my leg hair almost stopped growing all together. It was awesome. Is that normal?)

I randomly happened upon this blog after I googled "pregnancy leg hair stopped growing" because I just noticed that I haven't shaved for 3 days and still NO LEG HAIR. I am so excited about this I could pee!
