Total Exhaustion

I think I've reached my breaking point. Shepherd is sleeping fine at night... 3 hours at a time, sometimes 4. So it's really not his fault. I just think the weeks upon weeks of sleep deprivation is finally getting to me. Last night, I got up to feed Shepherd, and when he wouldn't stay latched on (sometimes he's lazy), I felt like throwing him against the wall. So finally, when I was done feeding him, I handed him to Forrest and said, "Here, you take him, I'm going to sleep." And I did. I feel really bad though, because the whole night, I was irritated and angry with Shepherd for having to eat so much. I was also extremely exhausted (still am!). I know this gets better, but when? When does the baby sleep through the night? Or at least long enough so I can get some much needed rest?! I've tried coaxing him to sleep some more this morning, but he's in the most playful mood, wide eyed and awake. Anyways... I'll try to write a more uplifting post later, but for now... I'm going to go try not to fall asleep playing with my son.

You are not alone. And you didn't throw him against the wall, so give yourself some credit. :)

Being so tired sucks sometimes...ok, well all of the time. I fed Logan in bed this morning & fell asleep with him on my chest. He woke me up by puking all over me & the bed. Now I have more laundry to do. So at least you're staying awake with Shepherd :)

That is totally, totally normal. Even wanting to throw him against the wall is normal - there was more than one night that I wanted to boot Mia right out the window. You won't do it, of course, and you will get more sleep soon. I found the best thing to do was to lie down and try to sleep every single time the baby was sleeping. Just hang in there, it will get better soon.

Holy cow...I can't imagine having to go through this. Here's hoping and praying that things get better for you guys soon. Best of luck!

Congratulations! You have entered what is known as the "haze of fatigue." It really will get better, although it varies with each child. Suffice it to say that I thought the baby would sleep through the night much earlier than he did. But, he DID eventually, and it is heavenly! Shepherd will do it too. The best advice really is to sleep when he sleeps. Don't worry about a clean house right now! Sleep is more important than cleanliness.

Poor thing. I totally understand. I'm about at my limit too. They tell you to sleep when the baby sleeps, but lately, my baby doesn't sleep!!! Last night, she was up every hour again. Hubby and I took turns helping her sleep again. It's exausting. How do single parents do it?
